Message for Students

Mutsuko HATANO, Professor

When you hear "Diamond", you might think of the "Jewel" that attracts a lot of women.
Diamond is well known as jewel, but as a matter of fact the diamond material has a unique and excellent characteristics that any other materials does not have. By the use of its characteristics, I expect to be able to produce a new electronics which contribute to the development of the fields of Medical, Life and Next generation IoT.
We are currently working on a project "Quantum Leap" which is supported by MEXT. On this project we are researching quantum sensors using diamond for the purpose of solving social problems and of creating a new value. The research covers all the areas from Materials, Physical properties (Quantum and Solid-state physics), Devices, Electric circuit to System. In order to pursue our research, I think Interdisciplinary, Industry-Government-University Co-operation and Collaboration with overseas researchers are important.

Takayuki IWASAKI, Associate Professor

We are studying new research fields of quantum sensors and quantum network using diamond. The researches are conducted based on material science, electronic devices, electronic and nuclear spin control, and quantum optics. We are looking for working with motivated students and researchers who would like to challenge the new research fields.
